Using the court finder

Search by ZIP code, city or facility name above and the finder returns every court we hold within your radius, with fees, indoor/outdoor mix, open play and the date each fact was last sourced. Nothing here is a guess: where we have not verified a detail, the listing says so rather than filling it in.

Official court dimensions — worth knowing before you judge a venue

MeasureRegulationWhy it matters
Court size20 × 44 ftIdentical for singles and doubles — a 'singles court' is not a different size.
Net height36 in at the sidelines, 34 in at centreA converted tennis net at a uniform 36 in plays noticeably harder over the middle.
Non-volley zone7 ft from the net on each sideThe kitchen line is included in the zone: touching it while volleying is a fault.
Recommended playing surface30 × 60 ft per courtVenues that squeeze courts to the 20 × 44 minimum leave no room to chase a lob.
Common conversionFour pickleball courts per tennis courtExplains why so many listings here are tennis centres with taped lines.

How to find a pickleball court near you

Three approaches work, in descending order of reliability. Search this finder by ZIP or city and sort by distance — every listing carries the source it came from and when it was checked. Then confirm against the venue's own page or phone number, because open-play blocks change seasonally more often than any other detail. Finally, check whether the courts are dedicated or taped over tennis: shared surfaces usually mean a queue and a paddle-stacking system rather than a reservation.

Indoor, covered and outdoor are three different things

Indoor means a climate-controlled building, generally with a booking fee and a fixed schedule. Covered means a roof but open sides — common in Florida, free of the sun and useless in driving rain. Outdoor is the default and the most weather-dependent. If you are searching for indoor courts because of heat rather than rain, covered venues are usually cheaper and easier to get on, and our filters treat them separately for that reason.

Free versus paid, and what you get for the fee

Municipal park courts are typically free and first-come, first-served, with paddle-stacking or a paddle rack to manage the queue. Paid venues — indoor clubs, tennis centres, dedicated pickleball facilities — charge a drop-in rate or a membership, and in exchange you get reservable time, guaranteed lines and usually restrooms and lighting. Neither is better; they answer different questions. If you want to play at a specific hour, paid is more reliable. If you want to play at all, the nearest free park usually wins.

What to check before you drive out

Lighting decides whether an evening session exists. Court count decides your wait: a two-court park on a weekend evening can mean an hour of sitting. Surface type matters more than people expect — a converted tennis court with taped lines can have a net at the wrong height and lines that confuse the kitchen. And open-play hours are the single most volatile field in any court database, ours included, which is why every listing shows when we last confirmed it.

Common questions

How do I find pickleball courts near me?
Enter your ZIP code or allow location access in the search box above. Results are sorted by distance and can be filtered to indoor, covered, lighted, free or open-play courts.
What size is a pickleball court?
20 × 44 ft for both singles and doubles, with a 7-ft non-volley zone on each side of the net. A recommended total playing surface is 30 × 60 ft.
How high is a pickleball net?
36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches at the centre.
Are pickleball courts free?
Public park courts usually are, on a first-come basis. Indoor clubs and tennis centres normally charge a drop-in fee or require membership. The finder lets you filter to free courts where we have confirmed the fee status.
What does open play mean?
Unreserved sessions where players rotate on and off courts, typically managed by stacking paddles in a rack. You do not need a partner or a booking, but you may wait between games.

How our court data works

Every field on a court profile is tied to a source and a date. When a detail has not been verified we show “Not yet verified” instead of guessing — filters never match unverified data. Court IQ is a transparent 0–100 score built from court quantity, quality, access, amenities, availability and data confidence.
